BACK UP TD-3 PATTERNS
The TD-3 holds 64 patterns and forgets them the moment you write over one. TD3 Studio's BACKUP key fetches all of them over USB into a folder of your choice — one .syx file per slot, named so you know where it came from.
How
- Connect the TD-3 over USB; OUTPUT shows the TD-3 lamp. (The rescan key finds a device you plugged in later.)
- Press BACKUP on the plate, pick a folder.
- Wait a few seconds — the status line counts the patterns as they arrive.
What you can do with the backup
- Browse and hear it — the library panel lists the folder with a thumbnail per pattern; click a row to audition it through the simulator, click again to open it on the plate.
- Restore — open a pattern, pick its slot (group, pattern key, bank) and press WRITE.
- Edit and save — change a note by scrolling over its cell, set an accent with Shift + click, a slide with Ctrl + click, and SAVE it as a new

.syxfiles are the format other TD-3 tools and SynthTribe understand.
Three ways in, one set of keys. Drop a MIDI file and the sixteen steps are cut for you — or start from an empty plate. Or play the pattern in yourself, 303-style, from the on-screen keys or your own MIDI keyboard. Either way, an accent or a slide is one modifier away — hold Shift or Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) while you play a key or click a step, and the same combination sets a tie or a rest. Fix any note later by scrolling over its cell.
